Nuance has a diverse workforce with extensive experience in all trades, and we work only with the finest craftsmen within each building trade.

After proudly serving in the U.S. Army for over three decades, Mack and his middle son Brian started a modest, humble power washing business in 1993. Mack’s oldest son, Kevin, joined Nuance in 1995, just as the company began to shift into production painting. Kevin brought experience in custom home building and commercial painting at just the right time.
The youngest brother, Jason, has also been active with the company throughout its history, looking up to dad and big brothers, and eventually developing a passion for finish carpentry and custom design.
By 1996, the foundation for what Nuance would become was set.
Over the next 12 years Nuance continued to grow and expand their residential painting and Virginia bathroom remodeling divisions, building relationships with homeowners, real estate agents, property managers and designers. Nuance has always thrived on its compassion for people, and we as a company enjoy transforming houses into homes, making them more functional, comfortable and beautiful.
Today, Nuance continues to be a family-owned and operated business specializing in Northern Virginia kitchen and bathroom design, as well basement remodeling, patios, and more – all with Jason leading a team of skilled craftsmen to help carry on his father Mack's legacy.

When most people spend 31 years in the military, they call it a career. For Mack, it was just the beginning. After three decades in the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam and the Gulf War, Mack came home to his wife and three boys, Brian, Kevin, and Jason to start a small painting company.
With a combination of discipline, attention to detail, and an unrivaled respect for his clients, Mack set the stage for what Nuance would grow into – a legacy Jason keeps alive today.
The youngest of Mack’s three sons, Jason now manages Nuance’s day-to-day operations while remaining “hands-on” with every project and taking time to spend with his own family.
With an instinct for delivering client’s dream spaces, Jason’s construction skills and creative designs are the backbone of the business. He’s a VA Class “A” State licensed, EPA Certified insurance restoration expert; an interior and exterior finish carpentry authority; a whiz at tile, stone, concrete and metal fabrication; and knowledgeable in soil grading, drainage, waterproofing, insulation, and much more.
Needless to say, Jason has the skill and drive to carry forward Mack’s legacy and guide Nuance through the decades ahead.
